Not only does moderate exercise help to treat and prevent depression, but it can also prevent it.  Regular exercise can be one of the best approaches to beating depression. Besides improving your mental health, exercise also helps prevent several chronic diseases, such as cancer and heart disease and of course general fitness and well being.

There is only one problem, anyone that is suffering or has ever suffered from depression will tell you that when you’re affected by this mental disorder, exercise is probably the last thing that you feel like doing. However, if you can motivate yourself to do regular
exercise you should see a great improvement in your mood. 

If you managed to motivate yourself, you may just discover the difference exercise can make, and it will motivate you to continue doing regular physical activity. An easy way to start exercise is just calling up a friend to take a walk. Even doing some house chores is physical activity.
